Eugene Porterfield has 40 years of experience in the real estate appraisal business. He is a Certified Pennsylvania Evaluator (CPE) and a state-certified general appraiser (GA). He has been directly and indirectly responsible for the appraisal of over 835,000 parcels of real estate. From 1978 through 1998, he operated his own appraisal, consulting, and computer software development firm, providing professional services to county and municipal government entities in eight states.
Mr. Porterfield was one of the developers of the CPE certification designation and training courses which was initiated in 1972 by the Assessors’ Association of Pennsylvania (AAP). This certification and training program is still being used today. Mr. Porterfield is a certified instructor for the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). He actively develops and teaches courses for assessors and appraisers and is a faculty member of Highmark Institute’s Real Estate and Appraisal Academy.
Mr. Porterfield was elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate in 1988 and served eight years. Senator Porterfield was active in real estate tax and assessment reform.
In December, 2003, Mr. Porterfield’s companies (The Next Step Computer Company and Pyramid Governmental Services) merged with 21st Century Appraisals.
In addition to being a member of 21st Century’s Corporate Executive Council and Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Porterfield serves as Director of Operations for all active projects. |
